Applebee's Restaurant Visit

Left to Right: Karan, Divek, Nitin, Will, Deeya

A few days ago, we visited the Applebee's Restaurant in Hawthorne, New York. We talked to the Kitchen Manager, Will, who told us some of the details regarding food waste at his restaurant. He told us that around 16% of his food is being wasted weekly, which amounts to over 130 pounds of food. Not only that, Applebees is a collection of franchises-- this means that other Applebees restaurants are facing the same problem. That's a lot of wasted food! Will had not found any alternatives for wasted food other than throwing it away, which is what we want to prevent. Will also noted that food delivered to soup kitchens must be kept at the correct temperature, which is something that RestShare will take care of. RestShare will be a perfect fit for this restaurant because their extra food will serve many hungry people at soup kitchens. In addition to that, donations will benefit the restaurants because they will get tax breaks.
